Our Objectives for this invite:
1. To generate excitement and a new perception for gymnastics competitions by making every athlete—regardless of level—important to the outcome of competition. (Level 4 results have equal impact
and contribute as much to the overall team success as advanced athletes in Open Class).
2. To stimulate athlete and parent to focus on team environment through every level of competition.
3. To create a competitive format that is interesting, exciting, involving, and fun for the spectators, athletes, and coaches—allowing them to understand and track results over several sessions and ultimately through several meets (Grand Prix format).
4. To foster an atmosphere of fun and excitement by shifting the current focus from individual’s performance to that of the team’s and making coaching strategy an important component of winning the club title. This shift in emphasis aims at creating a format that is more satisfying to athletes and parents and one that will not only promote grassroots participation, but should result in athletes who participate for a longer period of time.
5. To work hand in hand with colleges, recognizing that college teams are the natural culmination of gymnastics training for the majority of today’s competitors. The GT1000 format functions similarly to the collegiate system and will foster athletes who understand and comprehend the college experience. Competing is much more strongly aimed at interdependent group effort than being focused on the individual’s achievements.
6. To determine the most effective and comprehensive club program through its implementation of the USAG compulsory to optional structure. The club that can win a GT1000 title is the club with the most complete program which works thoroughly and diligently at all levels, training and advancing athletes appropriately.
Now it gets fun!
